What Exactly Is a Chakra and The Seven Chakra System?

What exactly is a Chakra? The word Chakra is a Sanskrit term for “wheel” or “circle”, and is thought to represent energy centers of the body in ancient Vedic healing wisdom. They are thought to be spinning disks of energy that should stay “open” and aligned, as they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being.

The Seven Chakra System is the most well-known, explored, and researched system, though there are others. Beginning at the base of the human body the Seven Chakra system is aligned through the main channel of the body. The Seven Chakra system has been known to aid in healing one's mental, physical, spiritual and emotional issues. The system also provides a positive outlook in terms of understanding, perception of behaviors and thought process.

Each Chakra is associated with a beautifully clear and vibrant color, according to ancient wisdom and current definitions. Certain nerves, organs, organs, tissues, and parts of our mind, body and spirit are associated with each Chakra and these energy centers remain open and aligned in a healthy and balanced body.
