What Exactly Is A Chakra?

The word Chakra is a Sanskrit term for “wheel” or circle, and is thought to represent energy centers of the body in ancient Vedic healing wisdom. The Seven Chakra System is the most well-known, explored, and researched system though there are others.

Beginning at the base of the human body the Seven Chakra System is aligned through the main channel of the body.

Each Chakra is associated with a beautifully clear and vibrant color, according to ancient wisdom and current definitions. Certain nerves, organs, tissues, and parts of our mind, body and spirit are associated with each Chakra and these energy centers remain open and aligned in a healthy and balanced body.

The Crown Chakra, located at the top of head, connects to our spiritually, divine knowledge, and is our connection to the universe. Its element is thought and its color essence is a regal voilet.

The Third Eye Chakra sits on the center of the forehead in between the eyebrows. This chakra powers our intuition, imagination, and foresight and can be especially supportive during meditation and Its element is light and its color essence is a rich indigo yoga.

The Throat Chakra is related to communication, voice, and creativity. It represents our voice and ability to be heard and to truly listen to ourselves and others. Its element is sound and its color essence is a bright blue.

The Heart Chakra located right over the sternum is associated with unconditional love and beauty. Its element is air and its color essence is a healing green.

The Solar Plexus Chakra sits right above the belly button and is related to confidence, self-esteem and will. Its element is fire and its color essence is a brilliant yellow.

The Sacral Chakra is located 2 to 3 inches below the navel. This chakra is associated with expressing emotions, sexuality, movement, and pleasure. Its element is water and its color essence is a warm orange.

The Root Chakra sits at the base of the spine and it represents one's foundation, sense of security, family roots and survival. Its main element is earth and its color essence is a primal red.
