Sacral Chakra: Ocean Conservancy

Sacral Chakra: Ocean Conservancy

The second primary chakra or energy center is called the Svadhishthana, located just below the belly button. Svadhishthana is Sanskrit for “where your being is established.”The Sacral Chakra is a water element that represents flow and flexibility. Since our bodies are 70% to 80% made of water, we strongly connect to Mother Earth and her amazing oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, and every body of water, large and small. At Hadobody, we understand that water is a Living Being, a Consciousness, and a conduit of information; therefore, placing positive affirmations on our body through our clothing is an energetic way to “program” the most powerful computer we have access to; our Mind, Body & Spirit -Our MBS Operating System. HADO means First Vibration - and we believe that putting positive affirmations on your body first thing in the morning is a simple reminder of how magnificent you truly are. When you feel good, you look good, and like the ripple effect, you put good vibes into the universe, positively affecting you and the lives you touch! Balancing the Sacral Chakra provides us with a unique flow of energy. The energetic flow of letting go and accepting change. It helps us express ourselves both creatively and sexually.

Did you know the same area as the Sacral Chakra is also known as the “lower dantian” in meditation and martial arts? The dantian is loosely translated from Chinese, meaning “energy center.” Three areas in our body are the main focal points for exercises like Qi Gong in meditation and Tai Chi in martial arts. Those three areas are lower, medium (center of the chest), and high (third eye; in the pineal gland).  How to discover if your Sacral Chakra is out of balance?

Having a blocked Sacral Chakra can affect us emotionally, spiritually, and sometimes physically. It can lead to feeling a lack of control and a lack of connection to oneself. Having a blocked Sacral Chakra can affect one’s ability to tap into a creative flow, causing a writer’s block or inability to create passionately.

Mentally

A blocked Sacral Chakra can easily affect our thoughts, so it is essential to state affirmations such as “I embrace change as a healthy part of life” or “I am a passionate and creative person”, and of course, one of our favorites is “I AM CREATIVE”. Feeling a lack of connection to ourselves may lead us to some of the following symptoms:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Lack of Desire
  • Detachment

Physically

The physical effect of an imbalanced Sacral Chakra can make you feel physically and emotionally weak. Some of the symptoms below may need to be looked at by a doctor, of course, but not giving our body enough water when it needs can also cause some symptoms such as:

  • Lower back pain
  • Premenstrual Syndrome
  • Spleen and Kidney Issues
  • UTI

Emotionally

If we ignore attending to a potentially blocked Sacral Chakra, it can affect our emotional intimacy with our significant other and other important relationships. When the Chakra is unbalanced, it causes emotional discomfort, irritability, lacking creativity, or perhaps an obsession with sexual thoughts. You may feel closed off or ashamed of how you look or feel in your body. Some other symptoms can include:

  • Low Libido
  • Fear of Pleasure
  • Insecurity
  • Lack of Control

 Balancing Your Sacral Chakra

Balancing Your Sacral Chakra

Balancing your Sacral Chakra can be a lot of fun because you’re empowering your creative self and tapping into your inner child to express yourself freely. Luckily, there are many ways to balance this important chakra. Maybe, it allows you to tap into your body by practicing Yin Yoga.

Yoga Poses

Hip openers are the best yoga pose to help move the stagnant energy from your hips. We tend to hold a lot of our emotions in our hips with the Root and Sacral Chakra energy wheel being close to the hips.

  • Baddha Konasana-Butterfly pose is an excellent hip opener that makes it easier for you to control how deep you want to go in the stretch. We recommend sitting on a block or pillow to help elevate the hips, and bend at your hips and not your back when diving into this stretch. When you lower your body and feel a pain in your lower back or feel your back is rounded, you are bending your back and not your hips. If you can’t go down too far, don’t push it, simply move with your breath and keep breathing.
  • Happy Baby- Any hip opener works great for balancing the Sacral Chakra, but this may be the most relaxing on your hips if you are new to yoga. Hip openers help release the stagnant energy that is in your hips. Help stir up some creative and sexual energy. Simple hip circles in both directions are great to do as well.

Meditations and Mudras

Meditation can help quiet the mind and tap into the energy needed to balance chakra(s). When sitting in a guided meditation, you can set your hands in a mudra position to channel the energy of the chakra’s mudra. The mudra for the Sacral Chakra is a feminine energy that works to harness sexuality and sensuality. This mudra is called Shakti Mudra. To perform this mudra:

Sit or stand with your palms in front of your chest, pressing your pinky and ring fingertips together. Fold your thumbs into your palms, inside of your index and middle finger. You can then press the knuckles of these two fingers together or keep them separate. Optional step: Lower the hands to just below the navel. Check to ensure your shoulders are relaxed and not raised by the ears when sitting in this mudra. From there, close your eyes and deeply inhale through your nose. Hold for two to three seconds, and then gently exhale, calling out the Sacral Chakra sound “V-A-A-A-A-M.” (Pronounced like the ‘am’ in the word lawn) This will help you generate the energy needed to flow through your body and Sacral Chakra. Taking time to let the vibrations of this vocalization ring through the area of the sacral chakra can be a quick and therapeutic practice for the Sacral Chakra.

Using Your Other Senses to Balance Your Sacral Chakra

Affirmations are an excellent way to redirect our thoughts and feelings that come up for us mentally and emotionally, which may no longer serve our highest good. Wearing orange, consuming orange foods, and wearing orange on your clothing can produce a positive flow of energy necessary to unblock the sacral chakra. You guessed it, the color of the Sacral Chakra is orange, and you guessed it—orange foods are the go-to for the sacral.

  • Oranges
  • Tangerines
  • Carrots
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Mangos
  • Melons

Next time you prepare an essential oil bath for yourself (also good for balancing chakras), consider using these scents to help clear the blockages:

  • Patchouli
  • Rose
  • Ylang Ylang
  • Grapefruit
  • Orange Blossom

Emotions play a significant role when your Sacral Chakra is blocked. Find ways to express your emotions, such as:

  • Singing Out Loud
  • Dance
  • Journal
  • Allow yourself to be vulnerable

Connecting to the Sacral Chakra Outside

Connecting to the Sacral Chakra Outside

Getting outside to connect with nature is a great way to get a healthy energy flow from Earth herself. With the Sacral Chakra being a water element, divulge yourself in water to focus more on the Sacral Chakra. This can include:

  • Playing in the rain
  • Taking a dip in the ocean or lake
  • Go kayaking or surfing

How Can You Connect With Your Sacral Chakra and the Community

How Can You Connect With Your Sacral Chakra and the Community?

Ocean Conservancy’s mission states, “Ocean Conservancy is working with you to protect the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges. Together, we create evidence-based solutions for a healthy ocean and the wildlife and communities that depend on it.” Reducing the use of plastic is one way to help keep our oceans clean and maintain the benefits the ocean provides us and the life of sea creatures. The fear of losing our coral reefs could impact us more than we think. Besides providing an environment and shelter for fish and marine organisms, the fish you consume would lose out on many nutritional benefits resulting in the high rate of death of these fish. The health of our oceans is a more significant crisis than some of society considers. Besides donations, Ocean Conservancy provides many different projects for you to be a volunteer. With over 600,000 volunteers, there is still plenty of ocean that could use your help.

Water is the primal element of the earth and life as we know it. Contribute to the clean-up of our oceans and the survival of marine life. 1% of the profits from the Sacral Chakra Collection will go to Ocean Conservancy. Save the whales, dolphins, and every creature in between. The ocean is at the center of who we are. It produces the air we breathe every day. Keeping the ocean clean for our marine life and us is impactful for the foreseeable future.
